STAR – Born to Work! Trained to Detect!
She’ll Stop Criminals In Their Tracks!
Meet Star, the youngest member of the Moosic Borough Police Department. Born February 25, 2025, “Canine Star”, as she is appropriately referred to, is a female German Shepard born in Pennsylvania, a rescue from a family in Scranton. Beginning at the age of 1, Star is currently undergoing training at the PennVet Working Dog Center, a division of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon completion, Star will be certified in narcotics detection including: methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and MDMA.
The cost of a police force acquiring the considerable advantage of a canine officer adds up quickly and some areas of those costs are ongoing. The initial acquisition of the animal and training costs, as well as ongoing veterinary care, housing and food costs, and of course all of Star’s necessary gear can accumulate rapidly.
Star is entirely funded through donations! The below items feature Star’s badge! Please consider supporting Star in her vital role as a member of the Moosic Borough Police Department!
Star thanks you with a wave of her paw as does the entire Moosic Borough Police Community!
